The Middle Country SBMC 05 girls travel soccer team, featuring Islip High School incoming senior Dakota Dieumegard and Class of 2023 graduate Brielle Zink, was recently ranked No. 1 in the country in the under-18 category.

The team’s year was an accomplished one, including taking first place in the Jefferson Cup, FC Delco Players Cup, EDP League Cup and USYS Regional Showcase. The team went on to capture the USYS Eastern Regional championship, winning all five games, and earn a finalist spot in the USYS National Championship.

Dave Pfaff, the head coach for Middle Country SBMC 05, attributes the team’s success to his players’ hard work and dedication in buying into his system, and singled out both Dieumegard and Zink for praise.

“Brielle is a very gifted and dominant athlete,” said Pfaff, who named Zink as his team captain. “She captured and held all that I taught her. She is definitely a major presence on the soccer field and understands the needed commitment and work ethic.”

“Dakota is someone who is able to completely understand the game from A-Z,” said Pfaff, who has coached Dieumegard since she was 11. “She reads the game and cuts off the angles. She’s a wonderful, keen player who does everything her team and coach ask of her.”
