Ryan Gorman has joined the music faculty at Islip Middle School for the 2022-2023 school year. He will teach sixth, seventh and eighth-grade band and jazz band, and also serve as assistant director for Islip High School’s marching band.
He previously worked as the band director at Weehawken High School in New Jersey, winning three USBands State Championships and a national championship with the program, before moving to Long Island this summer.
Gorman holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. While at Rutgers, he studied piano, trumpet and voice, and performed with the Rutgers Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds and Kirkpatrick Choir. He was also a member of the Rutgers Marching Band, performing at Super Bowl XLVIII and on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
