At the close of last school year, Islip High School’s incoming Class of 2026 participated in their first event with the Buccaneer University Peer Ambassadors.

The Peer Ambassador students organized a welcome video, providing a virtual tour and sharing experiences that incoming freshmen can look forward to as they enter Islip High School. They visited then-current eighth grade students, sharing the video and participating in ice-breaker activities and a question-and-answer session as they got to know their peer mentoring groups.

Later that day, middle school administrators and teachers escorted the Class of 2026 to the high school’s turf field, where Peer Ambassadors ran a mini Clash of the Classes, giving the incoming freshmen their first encounter with the excitement and friendly competition they will continue to experience throughout their high school careers.

“The Buccaneer University Ambassadors facilitated the whole day,” school counselor Nicole Hall said. “They were incredible leaders and wonderful role models for the eighth graders. They were informative, inclusive and encouraging to the Class of 2026 for the whole day, and we are so proud of them.”
