Islip High School celebrated National Poetry Month in April with a slew of activities including magnetic poetry, ransom note poetry and book spine poetry. In the latter, books are arranged so that the titles displayed on their spines create a poem.
Organized by the Academy of American Poets, National Poetry Month was introduced in 1996 to increase the nation’s awareness and appreciation of poetry.
