This year marked the first time Islip High School participated in the new Section XI sport of unified bowling, providing all students with the opportunity to gain confidence and experience the thrill of athletics over the course of six games held between March 7 and 23. The unified sports program combines athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to create athletic teams for training and competition.

“Our unified bowling matches were filled with such high energy and so many high fives,” Athletic Director John Sparacio said.

“Our hope is our team will continue to grow in the coming years,” Coordinator of Special Education Scott Jackson said.
