In recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the high school’s Junior Chamber of Commerce Club embarked on its first community service activity of the year, joining the Town of Islip, the Chamber of Commerce and Northwell Health in the Pink by the Bay initiative.  With the town lighting Main Street pink to raise awareness, the Islip students volunteered to hang pink bows on the fenced section by Islip Middle School on Sept. 25.

"Giving back to their community gives our students a sense of accomplishment and a sense of ownership, and that’s what makes us Islip,” said teacher and club adviser Renée Clock.
