High school students Carolyn Do, Joyce Johnson, Keera Kittles and Desiree Pagan attended the fourth annual EDNY Justice Institute during the summer, exploring the topic of “Crime, the Constitution and the Courts.” The Justice Institute is hosted by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in partnership with the Eastern District of New York Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the FBA’s Federal Litigation Section and Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.
During the week, students heard presentations from federal judges, FBI agents and lawyers, discussing their respective roles within the federal court system. Students also participated in a moot court competition, with Do earning the “To Kill a Mockingbird” award for best closing statement for the defense.
