Jason Cohen has been named the new assistant principal of the middle school, replacing Bryan Miltenberg.

Since 2006, Cohen had been a teacher at the middle school and Islip High School as well as an athletic trainer at the high school. He previously worked as a student teacher in the Bay Shore School District at Bay Shore Middle School and Fifth Avenue Elementary School, as an athletic trainer in the South Huntington School District, and as an assistant athletic trainer at Molloy College

A West Islip resident, he earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic training at Hofstra University, his master’s degree in physical education at Adelphi University and an advanced graduate Certificate in educational leadership from Stony Brook University.

“As an educator in the Islip School District for the past 13 years, I am honored to have been chosen as the new assistant principal of the middle school,” Cohen said. “My goal is to deepen and expand the relationships I have formed with students, staff and parents throughout the years and create an inclusive environment while continuing to be an empowering team player that enjoys collaborating with all the stakeholders of the Islip community to benefit all.”
