High school students in Renee Clock’s career development work experience class recently attended the “Laying the Foundation: Preparation for College and Vocational Training Success” conference at Suffolk County Community College’s Grant Campus. The day included interactive workshops, facility tours, resource identification and demonstrations of vocational training programs for students. The event focused on identifying services, tools, and resources that will assist college or vocational training program-bound students to achieve success while attending those programs.
“The day was great,” said Assistant Principal Curt Juengerkes. “Our students were exposed to real-world opportunities as they obtained valuable resources and participated in the day’s workshops and tours. It seemed to ease student concerns and anxiety about taking on the post-secondary world.”
