Suffolk County Legislators Steve Flotteron and Tom Cilmi recently visited Islip High School to recognize students for their athletic, academic and musical achievements. The honorees, all presented with certificates, included the county champion girls varsity tennis team, Suffolk Zone Awards winners, AP Scholars, National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Students, and All-State and All-County musicians.

“I can’t tell you how much we appreciate all the work here at the high school, and how proud I am to represent the Islip School District, the place where all of you get to do the great things you are doing,” Cilmi told the students. “Academics are really the basis for what most of you will take into your future to make successful careers. Sports and music are great, they are a part of our lives as a people and certainly serve to enhance academic performance in many ways. So, all of it needs to be recognized when you excel.”
