Fifth-grade writers at Commack Road recently enjoyed exploring figurative language, working to sort and identify similes, metaphor, alliteration, personification and idioms.

“My students are discovering how these craft techniques can enhance their own writing and make their stories come alive for the reader,” said teacher Julie McGarty.
