Officer Sabrina Pitch from the Suffolk County Police Department recently visited sixth-grade classes at Islip Middle School to discuss internet safety, aligning with the school’s yearlong goal of improving student empathy and acceptance as part of its student climate and culture initiative. The students participated in activities to help them learn how to stay safe on the web and to ensure that they are treating others respectfully online.

“With the proliferation of social media apps, it’s more important than ever for our students to learn to become digital citizens,” said Assistant Principal Bryan Miltenberg. “Our students are learning how to unlock the positive potential of technology while avoiding the pitfalls.”
