The Islip School District is pleased to once again participate in the Annual Hofstra University Middle School Honors Band Festival. Islip Middle School Band Director Allison Jeanes submitted her most accomplished students for membership in this ensemble, with five students being invited by Hofstra University Director of Bands Peter Loel Boonshaft to perform.

School districts around Long Island were invited to recommend seventh-grade performers to participate in the festival. A total of 340 seventh graders combined with the 110 players of the Hofstra University Symphonic Band to form the 450-member Festival Band. Following a rehearsal the previous evening, this massed band took the stage of the Hofstra University Arena on October 21 for a concert of middle school level music featuring the work of world-renowned composer and guest conductor Larry Clark, one of the most-performed composers of band music in the world today.

Congratulations to:

Erin Renwick, Flute
Katie Warnokowski, Clarinet
Olivia Bouler, Saxophone
Jacob Miller, French Horn
Chad Fields, Baritone Horn
