Commack Road Elementary School fourth-grade music students Emma Cirulnick, Isabella Governale, Skylar Greene, Keira Jantz, Jean Johnson and Rebecca Leo participated in this year’s Parents, Educators, and Kids festival, hosted by the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association.

This annual PEAK festival for fourth-grade general music students gives young musicians a chance to demonstrate their skills, experience high-level musicianship and interact with other talented musicians, as preparation for the All-County ensemble performances that begin in fifth grade and continue through high school.

The six students from the Commack Road elementary school enjoyed this year’s lineup of PEAK workshops, which explored African drumming, ukulele, folk dance, chorus, singing games, improvisation and musical theater.

“I loved this festival and came out of it with a big smile on my face,” said Jantz. “It made me feel special because I got to sing with kids from all over Suffolk County,” added Johnson.
