After holding a schoolwide food drive, Commack Road Elementary School students, faculty and parents came together to assemble food baskets for Islip families in need this holiday season.
The annual Night of Giving event is a tradition at Commack Road. Principal James Cameron said the evening is a wonderful way for students and the school community to make a difference.
School social worker Jasmin Dengeles explained that there is a real need in the community this year and that the school community was particularly generous. “This is a great opportunity for kids at CRES to help other members of the community and to participate in a really great community service activity,” Ms. Dengeles said.
