The middle school’s talented young actors presented “Frozen, Jr.” (a shorter version of the current hit Broadway musical) in several performances on Jan. 23, 24 and 25. Based on the beloved 2013 Disney animated film, which was in turn inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s 1844 fairy tale "The Snow Queen,” the show focused on the adventures of sister-princesses Elsa and Anna, who live in a magical snow kingdom.

Directed by Allison Jeanes and Sheila Montuori, with choreography by Victoria Hubert, Islip’s fabulous production snowballed into a first-rate theatrical experience starring Emma Cirulnick, Emerson Concannon, Addison DeFalco, Elizabeth Ford, Skylar Greene, Arthur Hampson and Leela Lopez.

“This year’s production was one of the largest casts and crew we have ever had,” Jeanes said. “Our lighting board, music, microphones, soundboard and backstage deck crew were all run by students who have been training and working on the musical productions throughout their middle school years. A production of this scale at the middle school level takes an enormous amount of dedication from our students. They worked hard on and off the stage, and the level of professionalism, teamwork and caring they brought to the process was awe-inspiring. The bond that was created throughout a rehearsal process like this is an amazing gift to bear witness to and be a part of.”
