During the high school’s monthlong, buildingwide Rock Paper Scissors tournament, 80 students and staff members were randomly paired up in brackets and given 48 hours to find each other for a one-on-one showdown in the classic hand game. Opponents often did not know each other, as the main point of the event was to serve as an icebreaker. Every week the winners faced new opponents, until the final three met on Jan. 16 in a round-robin tournament. The last two competitors, freshmen Keyara Hassell and Dylan McKenna, battled over the loudspeaker during morning announcements, with their entourages cheering them on, until McKenna was pronounced the winner and awarded a championship belt.
