Middle school students have been doing a “tree”-mendous job. The school’s Keep Islip Clean Club and Science and Nature Club joined forces with the Seatuck Environmental Association to transform the courtyard into a safe haven for native pollinators, including monarch butterflies, by designing a native plant garden.

“We are delighted by the enthusiasm displayed by all involved and are grateful for the support from the district as we began the first stage of this project,” said teacher AnnMarie Mills, who organized the effort with fellow teachers Vivian Kaywood and Kathy Ryder.
