Islip High School’s Student Union organized Spring Spirit Week, beginning on March 21, as a way for fellow students to show their school spirit. Themed days included Dress Like a College Student Day, Throwback Day, Multicultural Day, Dress Like the First Letter of Your Name Day and Twin Day.

“Each day, the outfits our students and staff wore became more and more creative,” teacher and Student Union adviser Meghan Stern said.
To further recognize outstanding spirit, the Student Union sponsored a daily competition to win a Bubba’s Burrito Bar gift card.

The week culminated with the second annual Game Day on March 25. For this schoolwide competition, Student Union members created nine unique games – including Faculty Guess Who, Humdingers, Wordle, Pictionary and Scavenger Hunts – which they presented via PowerPoint. Teachers and their classes were then able to play each period, posting their scores on Teams for a real-time competition.

“It was an opportunity for our students and faculty to engage in a fun, enthusiastic competition and to win prizes,” Stern said.
