Wing Elementary Celebrates Kindness and Unity With Pinwheels for Peace

Wing Elementary students turned the school grounds into a colorful celebration of kindness during its annual Pinwheels for Peace project, recognizing the International Day of Peace and the culmination of the district’s Start With Hello Week.

UPK, kindergarten and first-grade students created pinwheels featuring messages, patterns and colors inspired by friendship, respect and empathy. 

Together, their creations formed a display symbolizing peace and unity.

As students imagined “whirled” peace, the activity reinforced Start With Hello Week’s focus on noticing others, making new connections and building an inclusive school community. 

It also gave the school’s youngest learners a hands-on opportunity to explore how their everyday actions can help others feel welcome.
