Islip High School Science Olympiad Team Excels at State Competition

Islip High School’s Science Olympiad team delivered an impressive performance at the New York State Science Olympiad competition, a rigorous academic tournament that brings together top teams from across the state to compete in a wide range of STEM-based events.
The competition challenges students in disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and earth science through a combination of hands-on building projects, laboratory experiments, and written assessments.
Among the standout performances, Jayden Zink and Connor Ancipink earned medals with a ninth-place finish in Circuit Lab, an event focused on electrical engineering and circuit analysis. Ancipink also teamed with Roan Miranda to secure a fourth-place finish in Materials Science, where students apply principles of chemistry and engineering to evaluate and test material properties.
Overall, the team demonstrated strong dedication, collaboration, and academic excellence throughout the competition. Their performance reflects the strength of Islip’s STEM programs and sets the stage for continued success in future seasons.
