Welcome back, Islip Middle School Buccaneers!

As we begin an exciting new school year, keep in mind our motto: welcoming, connecting, and learning. Middle school is a time for students to discover new interests, challenge themselves academically, and build lasting friendships; teachers, administrators, and the entire staff are here to provide encouragement every step of the way. Students are also invited to explore the many opportunities available to them, including after-school clubs, which begin in October.

For a positive and productive year, students should remember to arrive on time and prepared for class, bring a charged laptop and charger, treat others with respect, attend extra help, and view mistakes as opportunities for growth! Support is always available when needed–our entire school community is here to help. Students and parents/guardians are encouraged to reach out with any questions or concerns at any point throughout the school year. Together, let’s make this year full of pride, connection, and growth!

Middle School Families,

No doubt you're excited for the 2025-26 school year to begin. It is an exciting time of year! The Middle School team has created an amazing world for students to spend the day. IMS is a terrific place to learn, grow, and have fun. New friendships will be created, and old friendships will be re-ignited. The year will be filled with lots of activities, learning, and building entertainment. We have thought provoking as well as fun filled advisories, intramurals, school sports, and clubs for you to join and keep you involved and connected to the Islip spirit which travels through all of us here at the middle school. I encourage you to get involved and make your middle school year the best year ever!

In support of all our student’s endeavors at Islip Middle School, please be aware there is a NO CELL PHONE usage while in the building during the school day.

GO BUCS!

Enjoy,

Counselors Corner

Hello IMS Students and Families,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! We’re so excited to start this journey with you and are looking forward to all the learning, growth, and fun ahead.

As your school counselors, we’re here to support and guide you every step of the way- whether you're setting goals, tackling challenges, or just need someone to talk to.

Start Strong with Smart Study Habits
A great year begins with great habits! Here are some simple strategies to help you stay on top of your work and set yourself up for success:
  1. Stick to a Schedule: Try to study at the same time each day to build consistency.
  2. Create Your Ideal Study Space: Find a quiet, comfortable spot where you can focus without distractions.
  3. Tackle Big Tasks in Steps: Break assignments into smaller parts so they feel more manageable.
  4. Stay Organized: Use a planner or digital calendar to keep track of homework, tests, and deadlines.

Get Involved & Make Connections
Joining school activities is one of the best ways to meet new people, discover your interests, and feel connected. Whether it's a club, a sports team, or a school event, there’s something for everyone, so don’t be afraid to try something new!

Keep Up with What’s Happening
Make it a habit to check your grade-level Google Classrooms and our school counselor website. We’ll be sharing important updates, helpful resources, and useful tips to keep you informed and on track all year long.
We’re thrilled to be part of your middle school journey and can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll accomplish this year. Remember we’re always here if you need support, guidance, or just a friendly face.

Let’s make this year the best one yet!
