Commack Road Elementary School students, staff, and families gathered in the school’s bus loop dressed in their patriotic best as they honored the nation's flag and the many freedoms it represents during their annual Flag Day celebration. Also joining the CRES family at their celebration were members of the American Legion and Suffolk County Legislator Tom Cilmi.

During the ceremony, members of the band and chorus performed patriotic songs, including “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “America the Beautiful.” Additionally, the American Legion presented awards to student essay winners who demonstrated leadership, dedication, and accomplishment in their writings. Congratulations to second grader Thomas Puhle, third grader Katie Maguire, fourth grader Tyler Cassara, and fifth graders Michael Passamano and Crystal Toro. Kristopher McDonald, Emma Regina and Morgiana McDevitt were also presented awards for academics and music.
