The new school year began in Islip on Sept. 4, with students of all ages arriving at the district’s five schools to start the next phase in their educational careers.

“The building was buzzing with happiness and excitement from our students and staff on the first day of school,” middle school Principal Timothy Martin said. “If it is any indication of what is to come, this will be the best year ever.”

“The start of each school year is an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and to make new ones,” said Commack Road Principal James Cameron. “This year’s kickoff was certainly a success for all students, families and staff.”

“It is always great to see the students on the first day with their eager, happy faces,” said Sherwood Principal Chad Walerstein. “A new year represents new beginnings, and I am excited to see the learning journey the students will take this year.”
