The high school’s Class of 2019 valedictorian and salutatorian are Victoria Arthus and Matthew Southard, respectively.

Arthus, who earned a 106.30 weighted GPA, is a National Merit Commended Student and AP Scholar with Distinction. The president of the school’s Student Union, she also serves as the school’s Mathletes captain and National Honor Society coordinating officer. Arthus will attend Rutgers University–New Brunswick Honors College in New Jersey, enrolled in a doctorate program in pharmacy.

Southard, a National Merit Distinguished Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction, finished with a 104.24 GPA. The senior class vice president also serves as secretary of Islip’s National Honor Society and Science Olympiad vice president and is a member of the school’s varsity tennis team. Southard will attend Northeastern University in Boston, majoring in biochemistry.
