In the “Amplify Science” unit, students in Cheryl Yodis Brown’s class at Commack Road learned about different plant habitats such as the broadleaf forest, rainforest and wetlands. After reading the book “My Nature Notebook,” the students ventured outside to observe the school’s grounds. Acting as true plant scientists, they chose a small area and marked their spot with a string, then wrote weekly observations about what they noticed.
