A total of six high school 2018 graduates – Rafael Gonzalez, Nikolas Kinalis, Madeline Marconi, Kyle Ness, Jillian Piano and Anthony Zavala – were recognized for the New York State Education Department’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence. The annual award, based on students’ Regents exam scores, can only be used if a winning student attends college in New York State.

Three of this year’s winners will attend college in New York: Gonzalez at Stony Brook University, Kinalis at Suffolk Community College and Zavala at Binghamton University.
