Kate O’Callaghan, the district’s executive director for student support services, was recently awarded a doctoral degree in education from Long Island University. She earned her doctorate in interdisciplinary educational studies from LIU Post’s College of Education, Information and Technology, presented to her in a May ceremony.

O’Callaghan joined Islip in 2015, taking over as executive director of pupil personnel services and special education. She had previously earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from Kean University, and a master’s degree in special education and a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from Dowling College.
