Staff Car Parade Spurs Pride and Positivity Throughout Community

Islip’s staff car parade spurs pride and positivity thumbnail168893

For more than two hours on the afternoon of April 28, Islip resounded with cheers and car horns as the high school held a staff car parade, with more than 50 teachers and administrators driving through the school community to waves and smiles from overjoyed students and families. The route included a stop at Sherwood to wave to the families of valedictorian Darienne Rogers and salutatorian Maddie Germano.

“Driving in the parade today was very emotional, but the positivity of the teachers, staff, administrators and residents was incredible,” said English teacher Meghan Stern, the school’s Student Union adviser. “Witnessing the cheers of the students and community members was truly an amazing exhibit of Islip pride. Words cannot express how thankful we are to them, and to the Islip Fire Department for joining us.”
