In this winter’s Teens for Jeans campaign, students from the high school’s Junior Chamber of Commerce Club, advised by Renee Clock, and Interact Club, advised by Nancy Reagan, joined forces to collect 500 pairs of jeans for distribution in March by the Town of Islip Youth Bureau to people living in local homeless shelters. Community partners on this initiative included Town Councilwoman Mary Kate Mullen; Suffolk County Legislators Tom Cilmi, Steven J. Flotteron and William J. Lindsay III; Kennedy LI Realty; and the Exchange Ambulance of the Islips.

“This is a great initiative to keep our youth active in the community, while facing the reality that there is a real need,” said Clock, whose club has been participating in Teens for Jeans since 2008. “Students develop social responsibility while having empathy for those in need.”
