In celebration of Youth Art Month, works of art by 17 students from each of the district’s buildings will be displayed at the Islip Public Library through the end of March. Selected were high school freshman Emily Wirth, sophomore Amanda Sayles, junior Janae Lindsay and seniors Lilah Lacetera and Gabrielle Nicolae; middle school eighth graders Sadia Afghani, Erica Carter, Annika Cripe, Gabriella Dirosse, Megan Ortenzi and Jasmine Ramos; Commack Road third grader Emirson Canales and fourth grader Alyssa Williams; Sherwood second grader Murphy Wallace and fourth grader Emily Gowen; and Wing first graders Frankie Kaatsiz and Anthony Wade.

“This show gives the public in Islip a small glimpse of the tremendous creativity fostered by the art department in Islip’s schools,” said Dr. Jeff Dailey, Islip’s interim director of fine and performing arts. “Nurtured by the unrivaled art faculty here, the art by the talented students in Islip is, for a month, accessible to all residents.”

The library is located at 71 Monell Avenue in Islip. Admission is free. For hours and other information, visit isliplibrary.org.
