IDEA Compass Coalition
The IDEA Compass Coalition is a partnership of school/community organizations, governmental agencies, local civic associations, houses of worship, the Islip Chamber of Commerce, the South Shore Community Organization, Syntax, Access at the Town of Islip, the School Board, Islip Administrators, PTSA, the YMCA, Suffolk County Legislator's Office and the COPE Unit of Suffolk County Police Department.
The goal of the IDEA Compass Coalition is to work together as a community to decrease the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and other high risk behaviors among the youth in our district.

Carin Winter, Co-Chair
Ms. Carin Winter, is a licensed social worker who holds the title of Social Worker specializing in Substance Abuse at the Islip School District. Ms. Winter is also co-chair of the IDEA Compass Coalition. It is Ms. Winter's job to educate the students, parents and the community members about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Ms. Winter also counsels students in need of support and guidance in the areas of drugs, alcohol and other related issues.
