Dear Parents and Guardians:
With yet another March nor’easter looming along the Atlantic coast, the District is looking at possible contingency plans for Wednesday, March 21st.
As of early Tuesday afternoon, the forecast shows that the heaviest snow will affect our area late Wednesday afternoon. As a result, we are considering a possible early dismissal tomorrow. We ask that you make any necessary child care arrangements tonight, just in case we need to put this early dismissal plan in action.
Should an early dismissal be necessary, we will follow the schedule below:
Islip High School 11:58 a.m. dismissal
Islip Middle School 12:24 p.m. dismissal
Sherwood Elementary 12:50 p.m. dismissal
Commack Road 1:15 p.m. dismissal
Wing Elementary 1:45 p.m. dismissal
Buses should arrive to the regular bus stops approximately two hours earlier than usual.
If an early dismissal is needed, you will be notified via a Connect Ed blast Wednesday morning. In addition, you can check the Islip Public Schools’ website, Facebook page, and Twitter accounts for any updates. As always, the safety of our students and staff is a priority to us, and any decision will be made with this in mind.
Sincerely,
Susan A. Schnebel
Superintendent of Schools
