Statement from School Board President Mr. Brian Clock
As you are aware, at a regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting on September 12, the Board of Education was notified by Superintendent of Schools Susan Schnebel of her intent to retire, effective June 30, 2018.
We are appreciative of Mrs. Schnebel’s efforts during her tenure. Mrs. Schnebel has faithfully served our district and it is evident in the success of our students. As you can imagine, as a Board we are sad that this is her last year, but we wish her well as she begins the next chapter of her life.
In the coming weeks, the Board of Education will meet to discuss and develop a plan for the recruitment of a new superintendent. The Board, along with stakeholders, will need to identify the qualifications and characteristics the next district leader should possess.
Again, on behalf of the entire Board, we thank Mrs. Schnebel for her dedicated years of service to the Islip School District. We will continue to keep the community updated as this plan is developed and look forward to input from district stakeholders.
