The New York State Education Department has been working over the past year on their preparation of the Draft ESSA Plan and transition to ESSA. Teachers, community members and administrators from Islip have attended meeting at ESBOCES to help draft the New York State Plan. The Commissioner of Education has reached out to all districts with information on how they can comment on the work that has been done.

The ESSA Draft Plan public comment period is open from Tuesday, May 9, 2017 and will end on Friday, June 16, 2017.
