Dr. Drysielski Named Social Studies Coordinator

Robert Drysielski has been named the social studies coordinator for the district. Prior to joining Islip, Dr. Drysielski was a middle school social studies teacher for grades 6-8 at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Manhasset from 2004-2010.  He then taught social studies at St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay from 2010-2016, serving in various roles including dean, chairperson for the social studies department and most recently, assistant principal for academics.

Dr. Drysielski, a Hempstead resident, received a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University in 1999, a master’s degree for secondary education with a concentration in social studies from Hofstra University in 2003, a master’s degree for administration and supervision from Fordham University in 2009, and a doctorate in educational administration and supervision from St. John’s University in 2015. He also earned a grant-writing certificate from Molloy College as well as an AP certificate in U.S. history. He is a member of the Long Island Council of the Social Studies, New York Council of the Social Studies and the National Council of the Social Studies, and was a member of the Middle States Accreditation team in 2005, 2009 and 2015. 

“The department will continue to enhance students’ knowledge through a thorough understanding of history and its implication on all future events,” said Dr. Drysielski.
