Project Connect

Students involved in the Islip High School Project Connect Mentoring Program participated in a New Games event, where they worked with school social worker Carin Winter and physical education teacher Patricia Whitehouse in trust-building activities. During the New Games, students participated in ice breakers and getting-to-know-you activities and worked together to climb the cargo net in the gymnasium. Following the games, the students enjoyed a dinner together.

The IDEA Task Force created Project Connect during the 2007-2008 school year to help select students reach their highest potential. The mentoring program has grown to where there are currently 40 students and 30 volunteer teachers participating.
