Tops at the Teeny Awards

Islip High School and the Office of Fine and Performing Arts are pleased to recognize the students who received Islip Arts Council Teeny Awards for their performances in “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Shaina Stroh was selected as Best Supporting Female in a Musical for her performance as the voice of Audrey II, the murderous plant. Mike McAlpin’s tour de force performance as the sadistic dentist Orin netted him the award for Outstanding Cameo Performance in a Musical. The most exciting nod of all was the selection of Islip High School for Outstanding Ensemble in a Musical.

Certificates of recognition were given to Islip for its student pit orchestra, and special recognition was given to Rebecca Goess for her work as student choreographer and Maggie Farkas for her poster and program art design.

The Teeny Awards is a student arts recognition program of the Islip Arts Council. The mission of the Teeny Awards is to recognize and celebrate the talented theater students across Islip Township, encourage them to pursue their dreams, and to stimulate local interest while developing an understanding of the value of theater education in a well-rounded school curriculum.
