Musicians Honored

Four students from Islip High School have been selected to participate in the Suffolk Chapter of the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education’s annual All-County Festival at Northport High School on November 16, 2012.

“The finest high school musicians in Suffolk County have been selected to perform in ensembles under the leadership of skilled guest conductors,” explained Vincent Green, the high school’s director of fine and performing arts. “After many hours of rehearsal, these students will perform a concert of highly challenging works at a level approaching, if not equal to, that of professional ensembles.”

In a county as large as Suffolk, All-County selections are highly competitive. On the secondary level, students are selected by virtue of the score they received at the NYSSMA Solo Festival held the previous spring, which must be among the highest in the county.

Islip High School is proud to be represented by:

Michael Boyd, Tenor 2

Rosie Turner, Alto 1

Carlie Leogrande, Clarinet 3
Michael Massaro, Alto Sax 2
