It was one for the books, as the varsity football team clinched their first victory of the season by defeating the Bellport Clippers in a homecoming nail biter. Leading 28-7 at halftime, the Buccaneers held on to win the game 28-27.
A bright, sunny day provided the perfect setting for the Islip School District’s Homecoming 2012. Community residents lined Main Street and showed their spirit by wearing the district’s purple and gold colors, as the annual parade, led by the grand marshal, high school security guard Karen Ernst and her family, weaved its way from IslipTown Hall to the high school athletic field. Students representing their respective grades demonstrated their school spirit and creativity through their uniquefloat designs, while the high school marching band, kickline, and cheerleaders showed off their musical, dancing and crowd-pleasing talents. Additionally,members of the middle school cheerleading team and the PAL showed their school support by marching in the parade, truly making the occasion a community event.
During halftime the marching band provided musical entertainment, while the cheerleaders and kickline wowed the crowd with their energetic cheer and dance routines.
