Ambassadors of Good Will

On Dec. 13, members of the Islip High School Gay-Straight Alliance and Students Together Against Racism, along with their advisers Janet Schlageter and Melissa Grucci, attended the Islip Town Anti-Bias Task Force’s Ambassador Program. During the program, the important subject matters of bias, prejudice, discrimination and bullying were discussed with the students through the use of guest speakers and videos. Additionally, the students met with other Town of Islip students and shared ideas during small-group discussions on how to be “upstanders.” The students will return to Town Hall to complete the program on Feb. 28, at which time each student will be sworn in as an ambassador of good will.
