Kindergarten students at Wing Elementary School spent a few afternoons in January showcasing their reading skills to their parents during special in-class “Reading Celebrations.” Working in small groups, the students participated in read-a-louds, where they proudly showed off their readings skills, allowing their parents the opportunity to see how far their children have come in the few short months they’ve been in school. “Today is a celebration to reinforce to the students, as well as their parents, the importance of reading,” remarked kindergarten teacher Donna Magee.
