The Islip School District Board of Education and Islip Teachers Association are pleased to announce the resolution of a new labor contract with the Islip Teachers Association. This new agreement runs from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2016. The previous contract expired on June 30, 2011, and since that time, teachers have been working under the provisions of the Triborough Amendment of the Taylor Law, in the absence of a new agreement.

“This is a contract that will contribute to a sustainable future for the District in the near term,” said Superintendent of Schools Sue Schnebel, who noted the significant budget challenges of recent years. “The pressures of the tax cap are very real,” said ITA President Gary Fernando. “The teachers of Islip are a proud part of making sure the District stays on sound footing.”
