The Islip School District officially opened its doors on Sept. 9 for the 2013-14 school year, welcoming back its students and staff. In preparation for the first day of school, the custodial staff cleaned and readied the buildings, while administrators and teachers returned to school early to attend Superintendent’s Conference Day and faculty meetings and prepare their classrooms.

“As the new school year begins, the district has and will continue to put student learning and success first,” said Superintendent of Schools Susan Schnebel. “We will continue to implement the shifts in learning brought about by the Common Core, as well as address the social and emotional needs of all students.”
