Red Ribbon Week

During the week of Oct. 28, students in the Islip School District participated in National Red Ribbon Week. Throughout the week, students in kindergarten through 12th grade learned about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, the history of Red Ribbon Week, and the importance of making healthy choices. At Maud S. Sherwood Elementary School, the students also wore red and participated in outfit theme days.

Red Ribbon Week is a U.S. initiative of prevention and education about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. During this week in October, students all over the country make pledges to live drug and alcohol free.
