Seventh-grade students in Naomi Sauer’s Family and Consumer Science classes at Islip Middle School celebrated Thanksgiving by going to the dogs. With Project Dog Biscuit, the students prepared more than 100 dog biscuits and donated them to the Islip Animal Shelter. “The students worked on this activity as a community service project to understand the importance of giving back and donating to others,” said Mrs. Sauer. Making their dough from scratch using products safe for animals, the students rolled and baked the biscuits and used bone-shaped cookie cutters.
