Islip High School’s Science Olympiad team has been working cooperatively this academic year to perfect their research and problem-solving skills in preparation for the regional competition. On Feb. 8, the science students competed against 46 teams from across Suffolk County, where they earned four medals and placed fifth overall, qualifying the team to compete at the state competition in March.
Science Olympiad is a competition featuring different events covering all fields of science from biology, chemistry and environmental science to earth science, physics and technology. Events included written tests, labs or workstations, building competitions, or any combination of these.
