A message from the Superintendent and Board of Education:

Islip Union Free School District students and the community need your support in fighting to repeal the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) starting in the 2014-15 school year.

The GEA is a formula in the state budget that reduces the amount of aid each school district is entitled to receive. Reductions have taken place since 2009, resulting in a three-year loss of aid for Islip of $8,354,620.

This annual practice is detrimental to quality education on Long Island and is not acceptable to taxpayers. Now is the time to work together to eliminate the GEA.
