Kindergarten and first-graders at Wing Elementary School received hands-on lesson in healthy habits during the annual PTA-sponsored Health and Safety Fair. During the two-day event, the students learned the importance of establishing healthy routines, including staying active and proper nutrition habits. The students also learned important safety techniques from the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County, the Islip Fire Department, the MTA and the Suffolk County Police Department.

“This event is important for the students because it benefits their overall well-being,” said Laura Lofberg, PTA member and chair of the health and safety committee.

Other community organizations that volunteered their time to participate in the fair were: Begin 2 Swim, Parisi Speed School, student nurses from Suffolk County Community College, Cub Scouts Pack 151, VMA Karate and South Bay Orthodontics.
