In recognition of Earth Day, students at Maud S. Sherwood Elementary School joined together to create special quilts. Using recycled cardboard and plastic bags, the second through fifth grade students decorated the cardboard with promises on how they can make the earth a better place for everyone, and tied them together using plastic bags to make class quilts. “The whole idea was to not use any consumable products – only recycled objects,” said PTA member and chair of the Earth Day committee Marissa Peterson. “Everyone has to work together to make the earth a better place.”
